P.S. This image does not represent Ms. Phule
We are talking about it. Feminism – a word that has gained multiple meanings nowadays. Lets know more about how it began in India.
Savitribai Phule was born in Satara village in Maharashtra. Back then, there used to discrimination based on caste & gender. She was married to Jyotirao Phule and not to forget that Jyotirao Phule was the one who introduced Savitribai Phule to education post their marriage. She then attended teachers training program from Ahmednagar & Pune. Later on, Savitribai Phule and her husband Jyotirao Phule took the initiative to educate women and hence opened the first ever school for girls in Bhidewada, Pune. Savitribai Phule became the first ever teacher in that school and the country same time. Both of them were known as the pioneers of women education of their time. Knowing that education was the way to gain freedom from age old discrimination, Savitribai Phule did not stop there and went ahead to open more schools, a total of 17 schools to be specific. Thanks to her if you are reading this. She realized the issues concerning women rights back then and hence established Mahila Sewa Mandal. She was against female infanticide & sati system. Therefore, she had opened shelter homes where widows could live peacefully and deliver kids. She basically started to make this world a better place for women.
Upgrad - How & Why I chose it?
Upgrad – Lets start the blogging with this topic first as I am able to do this because of Upgrad. I feel this word has come from thee feeling of upgrading oneself professionally & educationally. I had been hearing a lot about digital marketing and how can it make a difference to our lives. Personally as well I feel, we are entering a world where everyone needs to carry a brand and stronger the brand is, more opportunities will flow in. It seems in the coming times, growth will directly be proportionate to efforts one puts in. With dynamic inventions everyday, it looks like education and learning is going to be an ongoing process. Therefore, when I saw an update from Upgrad, it caught my attention as they did not create a FOMO which was good. Its unhealthy to gain traction by creating a FOMO and scaring people. People who want to learn will figure out a way and people who don’t want to learn will also figure out a way to avoid. I still remember it was a simple website with just knowledge and I ended up submitting my details. When I received a call from Carol, she was able to explain everything in detail to me. She even introduced me to MICA affiliation of this certificate. Later, I found out that MICA is actually known as Mecca of Marketing.
Since, I am from a complete non tech background, I did not wanted only a theory sessions and thanks to Upgrad for providing the live projects so we actually learn something practical. Dynamics can change but basics remain the same. I really feel the curriculum designed by upgrad is so connected that one would not feel that anything is missed or not related to todays’ world. I have got my basics of marketing right before diving into digital marketing which I feel is of value. Additionally, its made so simple that I feel more confident now as I know about more tools. I remember I was so impressed by the value shown by Upgrad on the first call that I ended up making payment that very day. Less chaos on the website and more information leads to a better decision. At the end its all about the person who takes up the course who decides what exactly he/she should do with it. So yes, a beautiful journey so far but all geared up and excited to upgrade myself with this course.
